Wireless access point.

Hi. I have network that looks like this [Cable Modem] -> [Router] -> [Switch] -> Computers.
To the switch I also have connected a wireless access point thats in a house 40m across the yard with a 50m long cable. To that access point there is 2 computers connected via wireless LAN. Those two computers keeps getting disconnected from the internet and I can't see the computers or the accesspoint in my network map. Just before this happens the speed for all users in the whole nework drops alot and then the wireless section drops its connection totaly and the speed for all computers directly connected to the switch gets back full speed.

Anyone have any idea of what this problem can be?

And also a question: Can a 60-70m long or damaged cable slow down or corrupt traffic on a whole network, cuz one of the computers that are connected directly to my switch are in a house about 50-60 meters away, the cable is in the ground and i dont know how it looks. And sometimes when I disconnect that cable from the switch all other problems seem to go away, but that could be a coinsidence.

Hi. I have windows 7 and all other computers also run windows 7. I am fairly certain it is not an OS problem. It could be a software or computer hardware related problem but I cannot see what that would be. At the moment, as soon as I connect the 50-60m long cable to the network the connection dies for the computers connected to the access point. But my computer and the others that are connected directly to the switch in this house (There is 3 houses total here atm, the switch and router and modem is in the center house and so am I) still have connection and rarely any problems.

I have some point questions that would help me a great deal since I am troubleshooting the network as we speak.

1. Can a to long or damaged cable slow down speeds for the entire network?

2. Should I always have an access point or a switch at the end of a long cable?

3. I have more than one DHCP client available (Router and Access point), but I should only use the one closest to the modem, correct?

4. I've heard that 107m is ethernet standard length of a cable, after that there is no guarantee that it works. Can, say 2 x 60m cables on the same network f*k it all up?

Sorry if it's hard to understand what I mean, im not good at explaining things. But my problems are making me insane

But I have DHCP enabled on the router closest to the modem, isn't that the first router? And there is only one router, one switch and one Wireless access point
