Hey guys,
Just got a new router that distributes 2.4 and 5Ghz signals. My [Toshiba Satellite C855D-35303] laptop has a 802.11n net card, and when checked says it can support an 5Ghz radio signal via command prompt [According to other sources ]
Tried checking to see if it needed updating; it did, updated it, but no go on finding the 5ghz signal. Right now I'm on the 2.4ghz via netgear R1600 router, but the only device in the house that can pick it up is my 6gen ios 8 ipod. I'm really hoping I don't, but my first reaction was that I may need a dual band n card. Prove me wrong? :C

Solution

The only way to know if your laptop supports dual band is to provide the exact make and model of wireless adapter.installed. You can find this in Device Manager in Windows.

I don't believe there is anything you can do via command prompt to enable dual band. If the wireless card supports it and you have the proper drivers, then both bands should be visible.
