Wireless Adapter not working

Hi guys,just got a new pc and i need to get wifi on it.I have this Alfa Network atherosar9271 Model:AWUS036NHA.i have downloaded the drives needed but i can not acces the internet,when i click on the near wifi ther is nothing there.I have checked device maneger if the pc sees the adapter and it does.What can i do guys?

Just checking that you do have an ISP and a wireless router for the Adapter to connect to?

if your using onboard ethernet port disable it in the bois and reboot. see if the usb wifi device starts working. if not make sure you have the newest mb chipset and usb drivers.
