Hello. I recently picked up a new Macbook and I need to expand my storage throughout my house. I would like to be able to have all of my files saved on both the backup wireless storage and on my computer but I'd also like to know if there's a way I could potentially access my saved files OUTSIDE of my house. For instance, lets say I'm in the library studying.. and I want to access a file that has been saved on my home storage, can I do this assuming I have access to wifi? If not, that's okay. I just need a recommendation of a good wireless backup/storage device.

Thank you!

Whether WIRED or WIRELESS really doesn't matter, as long as both are on a network, it can be done. When you are OUTSIDE, meaning you have to go through the Internet, there is an additional layer of complication but is nothing new, folks do it all the time. Ho much expertise you have to absorb all the jargons and do it yourself?
Network storage should ALWAYS be wired to the network for optimum performance. You might be on a wireless client, but the storage itself should be wired. A commercial NAS from the major players (Synology, Thecus, Q-NAP) all have web based access options that can be setup for remote access. You will probably need a DDNS service also.
