hi.

i recently replaced my hdd on my Asus zenbook ux32a as hdd had given up on me. this was a 2nd hand laptop I didn't have any paperwork. so I created a bootable usb with my wife's laptop and got windows 7 installed. now I can't get onto the internet according to my laptop there are no networks available. I have tried downloading drivers through my phone and transfering files to try and install drivers for wireless card. I even bought a lan adapter to sub and there is no joy that way. please help. thanks

Solution
Open up the Zenbook and ensure that the network adapter is properly and fully in place

Otherwise I am sort of at a loss for the moment May be time to regroup....

Take a careful and slow approach to addressing possible causes.

Here is a link that will provide some guidance:

Not everything is applicable and some things you have already done.

Work through it and post accordingly.

The primary objective is to find some additional information or clue as to what is happening.

What make and model wireless card is installed on the laptop?

What specific error messages or pop-up windows do you see when you cannot get on to your network and/or the internet?

Are you able to run and post the results of "ipconfig /all" via the laptop's command prompt?

As an interim option can you set up a wired Ethernet connection to connect the Asus Zenbook to your network?

If you can successfully do that it may make it easier to identify and fix some wireless adapter issue.

it's an intel centrino advanced-n 6235

I have the screen with red x to show that I have no connections available.

I'm using my phone but this chat window doesn't have the ability to add a photo so what info do u need from config /all?

My initial thought is that when you replaced the HDD you may have loosened the internal network card (intel centrino advanced-n 6235).

ipconfig /all provides a great deal of useful information about the network configuration and components being used.

Does ipconfig /all show an assigned IP address beginning with 169.?

Windows uses such an IP address when Windows is otherwise unable to obtain an IP address.

Does ipconfig /all show the correct DHCP Server IP for your router? Does the subnet mask match (255.255.255.0)

Is only one network adapter enabled?

Re: You mentioned trying a LAN adapter (wired) as a sub. Double check that you only have one network adapter enabled: either wired or wireless.

Unfortunately, not uncommon to fix one thing (i.e., the HDD) on an older computer only to have a second thing fail - perhaps the wireless adapter.

Key is to narrow the connectively failure down to a hardware problem,a driver problem, or a configuration problem.

Are you able to check if the Centrino is fully and firmly in place?

Do you see any adapters in Device Manager?

Do you see any problems when you right-click the Bluetooth and Network devices listed and select Properties?
