Is it possible to fit a wireless card, preferably TP-LINK TL-WN881ND onto an Asus Maximus VII Gene? I'm planning to get a Asus GTX 970 graphics card for now, and in the future I hope to get another one for SLI purposes. Also, my case is a Corsair 350D. This is my first time building a desktop and I'm uncertain about these things.

the card is a pcie 2.0 card so you would want to plug it into such a slot on the motherboard. if you also want to run dual video cards you will want a motherboard with 2 x 3.0 slots and at least 1 2.0 slot for the wifi card.

the maximus vii gene has all 3 of these slots. it has 2 x 3.0 and a single 2.0 x4 slot. so it looks like you could run all 3 cards. looking at the pictures, however http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/MAXIMUS_VII_GENE/, the 2.0 slot is very close to the second 3.0 slot and may not have the clearance needed or it will be a very tight fit. have to do some digging to see what sli looks like on this board and if it covers the bottom 2.0 slot

I really need a person who actually has bought an Asus Maximus VII Gene and knows what some first hand information. But thanks for your information, I feel much assured that my preferred network card can fit in the slot.

I can confirm what Math Geek have said. Everything he said is spot on, so if you're going to sli and use the wifi card I would recommend a different board, a wifi USB, or not go the sli route.

If you use water blocks its a different story though!
