my laptop connects wireless at my friends house, but not at my home. My friends laptop does connect at my home? At my home it seems like it is trying just will not work, does show as connected though.

Solution
Are the network names (SSID) the same? If so, you might have a problem with different passwords, but the same same SSID. If it says it is actually connected though, it could be a problem with DHCP. Make sure your computer has an IP address on your home network. If you're using a static IP for some reason, that might cause problems if the subnets/ip scopes are different.

His friend's laptop connects at this location. If his friend's connects, but his doesn't it's not an interference problem, is it? If it shows as connected, but not able to do anything, then it's IP, DHCP, or DNS settings would be my guess.
