I have 2 computers in my house. One is downstairs which is connected directly to router and I have one upstairs which needs wireless connection. I tried setting up the connection upstairs but it wouldn't work, When I open network connections all I see is Local Area Connection (and it says that cable is not plugged in since it's not connected to router). Anyways, I tried creating new connection and new wireless connection on the computer but it still wouldn't work. Windows Zero Configuration is activated and it starts automatically but it's just that I don't see the Wireless Network Connections icon when I open Network Connections window. Also, I checked the device manager and the network adapter is Generic Marvell Yukon Chipset based Gigabit Ethernet Controller and it's not yellow or red (it's working fine and I updated the drivers). I don't know what else to do because I've tried everything so far. I also remember having some kind of LAN configuration utility on computer before it was repaired (got it back a few days ago with windows xp reinstalled, also internet worked before). Anyways, that configuration utility showed me my internet connection and it automatically connected when I'd turn the computer on but now I just can't get it to work again. Perhaps I should download and install some kind of configuration utility or something? Help please!
Additional: I have wi-fi on my phone and it's working, my computer was fixed a few days ago (windows xp was re-installed) so that deleted all the connections).
