I am genuinely on the verge of smashing this darn computer. WIRELESS CONNECTION WORKING ON LAPTOP, INTERNET CONNECTED BUT NO INTERNET ON DESKTOP ETHERNET, it says its connected , sending and receiving packets but i a unable to google etc

on both machines open a command shell (start > all programs > accessories > command prompt)

And type in

ipconfig /all

Compare the settings to each other, specifically the DNS and Gateway settings.
