Wireless extender problems

I have a ZYXEL_625 wireless gateway, to which I have added a linksys extender so the wireless signal can reach the small cottage, about 400 feet away, where I work on special projects. The extender gives the message that it's timed out and that the ip number may need to be reset or the encryption is wrong. I know the encryption is OK, so what can I do about the ip?

Have you tried it with encryption turned off temporarily ? Have you tried giving the extender a different IP address (or as per the user manual directs) ?

Bear in mind that most people have never used an extender -- so you may be better off speaking to Linksys or, at least, downloading the full manual.
