I have some Airpod Pros that I use with my iPhone and iPad where the experience is great because they always seem to automatically be paired. I guess that is because Apple devices all have a special pairing chip.

Could anyone recommend a way to have wireless headphones always be paired to a Windows PC? I need headphones for work both to watch videos and do video calls. However, I hate cords and the Airpods don't seem to work well with Windows -- whenever I pair them up there seems to be crackling in the sound and the audio often seems out-of-sync.

I hope that isn't something fundamental to wireless headphones in general. Any advice on, preferably earbud-type, headphones that work just as well as corded headphones and don't regularly have to be re-paired via going to bluetooth settings would be greatly appreciated. My ideal is to have the same user experience as corded 'phones just without the cord to trip over generally be getting over the way.

bluetooth can be tricky on windows, so id suggest usb wireless headphones...but earbuds are all more likely to be bluetooth
well..in case of windows and bluetooth, if it works (if) then its simple, you pair earbuds, turn them off, turn them on - autopaired...everything is as it should (like on mobile)...when it doesnt work...well it really doesnt work unless you remove device, re-pair them and sometimes even bluetooth driver reinstall needed :)
as for the crackling/out of sync, that could be due to poor antenna reception, antennas on PC can be mostly upgraded if bluetooth is combined with wifi card, if you have bluetooth dongle without any antenna...umm thats probably your reason why...

I suspect the issue between the headphones and PC is along the lines of baked in incompatibility and difficulty where it pertains to Apple products and Microsoft products even aside from the Intel/AMD parameters. Apple products are a walled garden and are designed to work well with the very limited line of compatible Apple hardware. I personally had to return a pair that just didn't want to play well with Android. I moved to the Samsung buds and all issues disappeared as if by magic.

As to the other aspect, I think @kerberos_20 nailed it. USB with a dongle, or if you can find a specific dongle to work explicitly with your headphones should solve the pairing issue. I have noted similar issues with many Bluetooth devices such as controllers, keyboards and so on which have to be re-connected and often re-paired to operate and connect each and every time the PC is restarted. My personal experience has been that wired headphones are the single best way to go when using with a PC...aside from the cord and all.
