Wireless internet adapter malfunctioning

This only happened recently and I have no idea why but my internet kept disconnecting so I downloaded a driver and then it just stopped working all together so I tried installing the driver from the cd that came with it and nothing worked... The light on the adapter won't go on and it's as if the USB adapter isn't getting detected also I tried it on my moms desktop and it works so it's something with the drivers and my PC... Please help I can't go without games... Thanks

With it plugged in, find the device in device manager and then rt click and delete it. When it asks about removing associated files, reply yes/ok.
Unplug the adapter. Load the drivers from your disk and then plug the adapter back in when it tells you to.
