Wireless is faster than a wired connection?

Hello everybody,

I just received my CAT7 ethernet cable from VanDeSail and decided to plug it into my router and macbook. The wireless connections available are 5GHz and 2.4GHz, but I always use the 5 one because it's faster.

When I do the speedtest with WIRELESS I get the following results:

As you can see that's about 10ms ping, 80MBS download and 19MBS upload.

Now when I use my new ethernet cable I get the following results:

Isn't that really, really strange that the wireless connection is way faster than the wired one? Are there some settings in the router that I might have to change in order to get it faster?

If you need any more information please don't hesitate to ask I'm kind of lost here and I really appreciate any help offered.

first use the same place to do dsl and wireless test .

I used the same location for the wireless/wired test. Next to the router.

from the same server one is chicago and the other oak forest that the one and what kind of wired card you have in the system .

Yes the same location. Wired card is Broadcom 57765-B0. When I bootcamp in windows and use the wired connection it says at connection 1mbps. Shouldn't that be around 100 or something?

then check the nic card settings if they are on auto and full duplex .

As you can see it's on full duplex, flow control etc. This is what it's supposed to be right?

Just turned flow control off and it didn't increase or decrease the download/upload speed unfortunately...

Changing the adaptor from cat7 back to cat6 or cat5? How would you do that?

Do you have any other cable to try even temporarily. It is unlikely a new cable is defective but it can happen.

The problem is either the cable, the port in the router or the port in the macbook. You really need some other devices to test to find which it is.

You want to check to see if there are newer device drivers for your macbook but those are not changed a lot so it is more likely a physical issue,

Yes I used another cable which was cat5e it did exactly the same.

Yea I tried updating the drivers, but it worked just fine.

I'll see if I can get another laptop to hook up to the router.
