Wireless mouse not working when laptop closed

I have an Asus TP550LAB laptop running Windows 10 and use a wireless mouse. When I have my laptop connected to my TV via HDMI port and I close my laptop, my mouse does not work. Is this normal, or is there a setting I can change so my mouse still works when I close the lid ? I had an Acer laptop before this one that when I closed the lid my mouse still worked.

Go to control panel, click on your selected power plan, then select advanced settings, scroll down to power button and lid, click the + on drop down menu select lid close action choose Do Nothing, then click apply.
That should work.
