So I'm on windows xp service pack 3, have a usb Netgear a6100 WiFi Adapter (which I have tested on another computer and gets much higher speeds) plugged into usb 2.0. According to netgear genie and the wireless network connection information, the network I'm connected has a speed of 433.0 Mbps with full bars of connection. However, when I do a speed test I never get over 15 Mbps.

I've never had anything quite like this, so I don't even know where to start. If anyone could give me some pointers, I would appreciate it.

Solution
That WiFi performance is just between your PC and the router.
The 15mbps is when you are talking to the outside world.

What speed do you pay the ISP for?

Just like having an ethernet cable. I have a typical 1Gbps connection between the PC and the router. 75mbps talking to the outside world, which is what the ISP gives me.

Solution
The amount I listed is the amount I pay for and the amount the other computers in the house get to various degrees depending on their hardware. When I plugged the usb adapter into a different PC, I got close to that.

Edit: Actually, not quite, I pay for 400 even.

15mbps, or 433mbps?

Looks like I didn't get the edit up in time lol 400 is how much I pay for and how much most of the computers in the house get close to, depending on use. Usually in 2 to 3 hundreds at least.
