Yeah so i got the new dual band adapter, now i am also on 5 ghz band with my PC and inSSider shows a link score of 100 and the signal is stable at around -35 - -45 dBm. But the problem still persists, i still get lag and desync in games like CS GO and Heroes of the Storm. So now im thinking the adapter cant be the problem, there has to be some other problem, my roommate has not been complaining about the internet at all, he is using a laptop and is using the same wifi, also another friend says he has no lag with the same internet playing HOTS

is there anything else i can try to do to fix this?

The adapter is TP-link Archer T2U wireless dul band USB adapter. I even tried to use my laptop as an adapter, by sharing its wifi signal and connecting the laptop and my desktop with a patch cable, it kinda delivered the same results, i was still experiencing lots of lag in games. Its like constant fps drop and desync in games like CS GO and Hots, and from time to time it disconnects completely for a couple of seconds.

Its my dorm at my university offering this wifi service, as far as i can tell the access point is some aruba networks router, dont know the model, its not written on the router itself... and ms seems to be fine in games when i play CS GO it shows a steady 20-40 ping while its still lagging, which is wierd

im pretty sure its not my PC's fault, i have been gaming with this rig for a while now, before i had a wired connection in the dorm it was a pretty crappy connection with 4 mb/s down and 1 mb/s up, but i was able to play HOTS and CS GO just fine without any lag whatsoever. Suddenly my dorm decided to end the contract with the cable internet and now we only have free wifi internet which is why i had to buy a wifi adapter in the first place. And now playing games with this wireless connection produces a lot of lag, online games are pretty much unplayable for me now, best i can do is heartstone 😀

Is it possible to tweak the comptuers or adapters settings somehow to make it better? i dont have access to the routers setting tho.

My problem is similar to this http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2123930/fix-random-lag-ping-latency-spikes.html

So basically my PC is the one with the problems because my roommate can play online games just fine and so can another friend using the same wifi. I have the same exact signal strenght as my laptop, and i tried using a patch cable with my PC and laptop and it still resulted in the same lag issues. As i said before, a good patch cable connection worked just fine before, but it has problems with this new wifi.

So nobody can think of a fix to such a problem?

i only have the one correct driver for that specific adapter, and as i said i tried another method, using my laptop as somewhot of a wifi adapter with a patch cable between the laptop and the desktop, and it was lagging just as hard, there must be some other problem

i did apply this fix https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/3ahg59/fix_for_wireless_ping_spikes/

Not sure yet if it helps at all, am going to try and game later in the evening at around the same time i had horrible lag yesterday and see if its any better, i think the wifi signal is shared with some more users than just me, speedtest shows 80 mb/s down and 85 mb/s up, im guessing thats one of the reasons i get more lag in the evenings than in the daytime, since more people are home in the evening

80mbits dl and up should be enough for the whole building, unless bunch of people are streaming/downloading at the same time.. I don't know your routers setup so.. wirelless networks are never good, especially when shared with people that you don't know 😛
