Wireless PCIe card not detected by Motherboard

I have recently purchased a new wireless card (Edimax EW-7822PIC) to use in my PC since my room doesn't have a LAN port. I have had absolutely zero luck in getting the card to even be recognised by the motherboard and I don't know what is causing it.

I have the ASRock Z97 Extreme 4 motherboard

The card doesn't even seem to be being powered by the PCIe lane as it doesn't heat up at all, and when I look at the system overview in my UEFI it doesn't even come up. I have installed all the drivers I possibly can, the BIOS is the latest version (P2.60). I have reset the bios settings to default numerous times, I do have a graphics card (Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming) which I have swapped from the first slot to the second and it works so I know the slots aren't faulty. I have tried using the card on its own without the GPU, I've disabled the on-board LAN, re-enabled it, I've tried every single PCI port on the motherboard and got nothing. I have also already installed the drivers for the card on my PC, though since it isn't even being detected I know that isn't the problem.

Also, I have tried the card in another PC with older hardware and it was recognised instantly with no problems.

Full List of Components
- CPU i5 4790k
- Motherboard ASRock Z97 Extreme 4
- RAM Corsair vengeance DDR3 2333 8GB
- GPU Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming
- PSU CoolerMaster V750 80+ Gold

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me solve this problem, because its been baffling me for hours

Solution
Then either the card is defective or the PCIe slot is the problem. Try it in another slot, and if you still get nothing consider exchanging the card.
I did but I uninstalled them as I thought that was the problem initially, I may have installed the card before I uninstalled the old drivers.
I don't know if that's the problem or how to fix it

sometimes cards arent compatible? id wait for a more capable guy, this is beyond me. im just as stumped as you

No worries, thanks for trying :)
I just don't understand, its a modern card, dual band and capable of AC, so I don't understand why it isn't even being powered by the motherboard let alone being recognised.

While I agree that incompatibilities are possible, let's work from the assumption that it can work. If we fail, oh well. :)

You did not mention an OS as far as I saw, so I will hope that it is not 10, lol. Lots of issues there still.

I would start by removing the card, and deleting all related drivers and any ASRock network control/enhancement software.

Then install the most current driver from the Edimax support page, then install the card and see if it shows up in the device manager control panel. If so, what does it say about the drivers?

That is a great motherboard, but I don't know much about that adapter yet as I have not played with one. If all else fails, can you return the adapter without too much cost?

My bad, I'm using Windows 8.1
I'm not sure that it is a driver issue, as the motherboard doesn't even power it, nor does it get detected in the UEFI

P.S. By not being powered I mean that it doesn't heat up at all and the light on the back doesn't light up

Hello
I have the same problem. I wrote an email to AsRock cause my board is a AsRock H87 Pro 4.
It turned out that the Wifi-card is not compatible with UEFI boards.
Sorry for my bad english.
Greetings.
