I use my wireless phones at night while gaming and/or listening to music. My machine (see specs) is a week old, and I am having trouble "discovering" the 'phones, but what I am seeing are my neighbor's devices, and he isn't responding to my calls to let him know. My Bluetooth dongle is plugged in, and shows "ON" under devices, but NOT on the taskbar.

Is there anything anyone can recommend I do about this? I am a little older at 73 than most of you, but can still follow written directions if you have any. I have also written an e-mail to ABS.

Thanks for your assistance.

First try to get the Bluetooth icon on the Taskbar.

FYI:

Look for other similar links, tutorials, and "how-to's" if and as necessary. Avoid any links that want to download something to "fix" the problem.

Bluetooth has a range of about 30 feet so it seems reasonable that you may see other Bluetooth devices in your immediate area.

Those devices being "discoverable" in some manner.

For example, if you left-click the BlueTooth icon ( should be located in the lower right screen corner) and then select Show Bluetooth Devices there could be any number of devices that appear.

Is your phone listed? You used the plural phones so does that mean that you are using multiple phones?

In any case, you must pair the required phone to the host Windows system. Usually some process where a code is provided and you manually enter that code to allow the pairing to occur.

Just seeing your neighbor's devices (and vice versa) is not necessarily a threat because access is needed to both devices to go through the pairing process.

Two steps:

1) Get the Bluetooth icon onto the Taskbar

2) Pair your phone and system.

Oh, gosh, I am so sorry - I misled you, and that was not my intent. I meant "headphones" - "wireless headphones" which I cannot pair with my bluetooth. Please accept my heartfelt apologies for not having thought this through before posting - that you might think I meant my mobile phone - I did not and I feel really stupid.

However, I think your instructions to me are valid, are they not, and I am still following them.

Thank you for taking the time, and please accept my apology.

No apologies necessary. Terminologies all too easily interchangeable sometimes.

Make and model Bluetooth headphones?
Tuinyo - TP19 and thank you! I can get BT on my taskbar by using a dongle, but when I pull it out, no more BT icon.

Here's what I did after reading your last post:

1. Went to settings

2. Found "Bluetooth and Other Devices"

3. Clicked headphones to "ON" - Here I saw a red/blue light flash ONE time only, then steady blue

4. Went to "Add Device" (2nd choice down on settings)

5. Clicked on "ADD Device" - Screen changes to "Add Device" with Bluetooth being the first choice available

6. Screen Changes again to "Add Device" and tells me to click on the "device below" (to activate) but nothing shows to activate

And this has repeated ad nauseam for the past 48 hours.

Also above the "Device" section (on settings) there is a section marked just "Bluetooth" which is marked to ON.

On the TASKBAR are the words (greyed out) "Allow a device to connect" and clicking on those words does nothing.

That's as far as I have gotten, Ralston. Thanks again

EDITED TO ADD: I have called ABS (computer mfg folks) who told me to go to Device Management and make sure "Bluetooth Radio" is ON. All I found there are just Update, (ok), Disable, Uninstall and Scan For HW Changes (those are ok too). So am I to assume my headphones are paired? If so, I'm not getting any sound out of them. Is there a setting I am missing, Ralston?

I have asked ABS to sign on to my machine remotely, but they have not answered. It is still under the first 30 days' warranty, and I am told I can send it back, but I'd like to avoid that if I can. Checking Newegg, I found they do have a very fair return policy - just have to make sure they get all their packing and stuff, but other than the BT not connecting the headphones, the rig is very satisfactory -especially for my gaming.

Another alternative is Box Aid, another remote repair facility which charges $40.00 (what I'd pay my tech) for 30 minutes of work, but here again, unless I am missing something, I don't feel it's up to me to undergo that expense.

Thanks very much for your help.

I did some more research on this machine and found the following under Blueooth Audio Driver (s) uner (CODE31): "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.

This is located under Bluetooth Adpapter RZ616. All other Bluetooth programs listed under this device say they are working properly.

Is there anything further I can do before sending it back?

Thanks
