Hey Guys,
Been breaking my head on how to fix this all day. Read through the forum and tried different things out. Finally reset my repeater and now am looking for some help.
I have 2 routers:
Router 1: TP-Link N600 TD-W8980, which is a modem + wifi router (the main router). This works fine and no problems.
Router 2: Tenda AC100 FH1202 which I'd like to use as a wifi repeater.
Both have dual band. Thought I'd try with the 2.4Ghz band first.
Now Router 2 already has a mode called Universal Repeater Mode. So this is what I did. Logged on to Router 2, went to wireless settings -> Universal Repeater mode. Enabled it first, then did a scan, selected my original network (router 1), the settings were auto filled, I entered the password and pressed save.
The expected result was that this would be enough for the 2.4Ghz Band to be repeating the signal. But it doesn't.
After reboot, it says "Limited Connection". Here are some details of the 2 routers:
Router 1 *works fine* main router + modem
IP Address:192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask:255.255.255.0
DHCP Server:Enable
Start IP Address:192.168.1.100
End IP Address:192.168.1.100
Lease Time: minutes (1~2880 minutes, the default value is 1440)
Default Gateway: (optional)
Default Domain: (optional)
DNS Server: (optional)0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS Server: (optional)0.0.0.0
Channel:Auto(Channel 11)
Channel Width:Auto
Mode:11bgn mixed
Encryption:WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK
Max Tx Rate:300Mbps
WDS Status😀isabled
Router 2 *Repeater that does not work*
IP Address192.168.0.1
Subnet Mask255.255.255.0
Band 2.4 Ghz
Mode Universal Repeater
Remote SSID XXXXXXX
Channel 2462Mhz
Remote MAC Adderess xxxxxxx
Security Mode WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK
Authentication Type WPA2-PSK
Cipher Type AES
This does not work 🙁
When I try to ping Router 1 connected to router 2's network, it times out.
Any help here please! Glad to provide any further information if required.
Thank you!
