Wireless repeater not connecting to Main Wifi Router

Hey Guys,

Been breaking my head on how to fix this all day. Read through the forum and tried different things out. Finally reset my repeater and now am looking for some help.

I have 2 routers:
Router 1: TP-Link N600 TD-W8980, which is a modem + wifi router (the main router). This works fine and no problems.
Router 2: Tenda AC100 FH1202 which I'd like to use as a wifi repeater.

Both have dual band. Thought I'd try with the 2.4Ghz band first.

Now Router 2 already has a mode called Universal Repeater Mode. So this is what I did. Logged on to Router 2, went to wireless settings -> Universal Repeater mode. Enabled it first, then did a scan, selected my original network (router 1), the settings were auto filled, I entered the password and pressed save.

The expected result was that this would be enough for the 2.4Ghz Band to be repeating the signal. But it doesn't.

After reboot, it says "Limited Connection". Here are some details of the 2 routers:

When I try to ping Router 1 connected to router 2's network, it times out.

Here is what I know about routers and repeaters. Both have to be on the same primary IP address and Subnet. The router must have DHCP enabled. Not the repeater. You want the router to assign the individual IP addresses. Otherwise, there will be a conflict.

The router would be set at 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.255.0. For my systems at home, I assign fixed address for printers starting at 192.168.1.100. For the repeater, I would set it with an IP address of 192.168.1.200. Once the repeater is paired with the router and the repeater fixed with a firm IP address and same subnet, you should be fine. I think the repeater might need to know what the Gateway or DNS IP addresses.....it would be the router at 192.168.1.1.

After reading your post again, I noticed that you set the Router DHCP starting address to 192.168.1.100 and end at 192.168.1.100. That can't be correct. By doing this, you are only allowing 1 device to connect to your router. I recommend a starting address of 192.168.1.10 and end at 192.168.1.254. The router assigns IP addresses automatically starting at 192.168.1.10 then 11..12..13..etc. the repeater set at 200 is way up there and I doubt you will ever have 190 devices attached at 1 time.
