I have an ASUS RT-n66u and a Netgear WNDR3400. My ASUS is conected direletly to my cable modem and provides wireless internet through out my house. I want to take my Netgear router and place it in my garage to repeat the wireless signal so that I can get WiFi (I dont care if its slow) to my garage. I cannot get a eathernet cable run to my garage so that is not an option. I have looked all over the internet and have found some solutions but none that have worked for me.

So far I have tried, putting the Netgear router into wireless repeating mode and changing all the settings in the netgear and the ASUS to match each other.
I tried making the ASUS a wireless access point as well to connect to the Netgear but that didn't work either.

If any could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

Any further information just please ask.

The first thing you tried is how to do it. What happened when you tried that? You may need to place the device closer to the original router between the garage and it. You could try a powerline adaptor to get ethernet to the garage, but they are spotty, and if its not on the same leg of the box it doesn't always work well.
