I have a Microsoft Desktop 800 Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Set. Unfortunately, the transceiver got smashed. Is it possible to get a replacement transceiver for this device set? If so, how and where?

Not possible as each wireless dongle and mouse/keyboard set are "matched" to the radio frequency that they've been configured to use, this is set at the factory - - no two wireless sets have the same frequency to avoid "crossover" when two sets are being used in close proximity (college PC classes, family members at home etc).

You'll have to buy a new wireless set complete with matching transceiver.

Had it been a bluetooth set it wouldn't have been a problem as bluetooth is universal.

I can't imagine how that small USB transceiver got smashed, you'd have to deliberately take a hammer to it!

Thank you. A shame to throw away a perfectly good keyboard and mouse. I thought I read somewhere that Logitech was able to provide a replacement transceiver but of course not Microsoft.
The transceiver got broken when the laptop slipped off the couch and landed on that side of the laptop where the transceiver was inserted. It doesn't take too much to bend it and break it.

I would say the same thing. My floor has been covered with plastic for months now, and the transceiver for my own MS wireless 800 keyboard and mouse just stopped working. The plastic had bunched up and nearly destroyed a brand new 256GB thumb drive, but I didn't expect the transceiver to bend also. It did and now my pair of input devices is useless.

I was working at the time, so they needed to be replaced immediately. Be aware that SIIG now stashes the transceiver in the mouse, so if you get a new set it could be similarly hidden. Both myself and, I would guess, the one who previously returned the same box to Fry's before me missed this and brought it back to the store. Embarrassing for a tech expert.
