my notebook configuration is:

TOSHIBA SATELITE L500-1H1, INTEL CORE2DUO, WIN 7 Ultimate, 32 bite

NETWORK ADAPTERS (Device Manager):
-Realtek PCIe FE Family Controler
Driver Realtek ver 7.23.623.2010 23-Jun-2010, Rt86win7.sys, RtNicProp32.dll, RTNUninst32.dll

(for WIN 7 32bit)

-Realtek RTL8191SE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC, ver 2009.0.1216.2009 16-Dec-2009, rtl8192se.sys (for WIN 7 32bit)

THE PROBLEM IS:

I can not install (neither sellers proffesional, neither Internet provider profesionals)
Wireless USB adapter with antenna, model:
AIR LIVE WL-1700USB, based on Realtek driver ver RTL8187_6.1316.1209_UI_1.00.0145

Netrtuw.inf (For Win 7)
Realtek RTL8187.sys Wireless 802.11g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter
Copyright (C) 2009 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.

(also not function original Air Live Realtek Driver RTL8187.sys)

Device and driver Instalation is complete and give OK :"This device is working properly", but USB adapter does not scan stations and allways give status: NOT CONECTED!!!
All kind of installation are done (with internal devices disabled, via bios disabled, etc).
No body knows reason, because the same malfunction result give another Wireless USB adapter with antenna, model: TP LINK TL-WN722NC.
They think that original Toshiba installed network Realtek drivers work exelent with internal devices but does not function properly with external USB Wireles devices! The other Toshiba laptop based on NETWORK ADAPTERS ATHEROS chipset and drivers work fine.
Pls help me to resolve this problem. Maybe some fine system adjustments can help.
Best regards Vladan

Solution

Hi vjvuk, thank you for your reply. I've solved the issue with the USB adapter, it simply downloaded and installed the drivers and the updated USB utility for that model from the TP-LINK website. With regard to the PCI-E adapter, I haven't find any solutions yet. I think that the Airlive program you mentioned wouldn't be helpful since it is suited for a USB device and for a different brand than TP-LINK.

Look at network properties, Wireless properties, wireless networks, in prefered networks move the internal down the list.
Another thing you can try is to disable the internal wireless in device manager and reinstall the external drivers.

I'll try with properties. I tried few different steps installations. Beside others, I started with disabling all internal WL devices in BIOS and in Device manager and via Toshiba utilities. Always the same results: in Dev.mngr--> AirLive WL-1700USB -->"This device is working properly". Device software work Ok, but rcvd system msg: AirLive NOT CONNECTED, wireless networks available. But, Toshiba Configfree test give result: probably problem with device driver.

Is it possible that some part of installation procedures, OS WIN 7 Ultimate, refused to register without any message? In Event viewer, I see Service Control Manager(SCM) Event ID 7030, Qualified 49152, "Realtek87B marked as interactive service. However, the system is configured to not allow interactive service. This service may not function proper."
Also see Events 1014, AirLive error=0x8007043c (AirLive is based on Realtek 8187B/L - wireless USB)
???

I did not receive satisfied answer. Does anybody can resolve this w/l USB adapter and win7 problem? It seems that is something wrong with Win7 startup logon changed by software driver installation. Win7 does not accept some changes to force logon screen, but does not report it, and driver itself require logon!
I invite specialist (Microsoft, Realtek, AirLive and Toshiba) to resolve this problem. pls help!

Here is part of RtlService.log:

Hi vjvuk, I have a similar problem. WiFi PCI-E Adapter (TP-LINK TL-WN781ND) correctly installed in device manager, LED light blinking but no chance to switch it on. Same results with WiFi USB Adapter (TP-LINK TL-WN721N). I'm running a Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit OS. The USB Adapter is even listed in Windows 7 compatibility center as a compatible device. I have tried everything :

- uninstalled/reinstalled drivers
- changed pci-e/USB slots
- Disabled antivirus (Avast!) and firewall (comodo)
- checked that WLAN Autoconfig in services was running and set to automatic

The weird thing was that the PCI-E adapter was working at the beginning but only as a wifi hotspot through the freeware program named "Virtual router". Any advice is appreciated.

Problem is solved:

1. Install Airlive as sugested
2. In START > ALL PROGRAMS > STARTUP
3. Put "C:\Program Files\OEM\Wireless LAN Driver and Utility\RtWLan.exe" /H
4. Restart
