Hey guys, I have looked for the last 4 hours trying to resolve this.
I have the wireless dongle and the controller is linked to it. Both make connection noises when plugged in and taken out.

The device manager show the wireless 360 dongle peripheral but no controller. I have looked at each thing on the device manager for a hidden device but there is not one.

I only have Fish feed and grow and GTA San A to try the controller on, could it be that its just that these games do not support the controller??

I have the xbox 360 Accessories 1.2 driver downloaded as it came with the dongle.

My head is battered with a process that Microsoft say is easy :-(
Do i need to just get a wired controller and be done it.
Im a 45 year old who would love some help.

Cheers Paul

Did you see this: http://support.xbox.com/en-AU/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-controller-for-windows-help - its for win 8 but it might help

Is it a Microsoft made controller?

What I said is part of the new Windows 10 feature that is supposed to reject non genuine things, whether software or hardware. It has been reported before that the 3rd party controllers stopped working in Win 10 but that the real MS ones were okay. I have a MS wired USB Xbox 360 for Windows controller and it works fine. I didn't have to install any drivers either. It just looks like a standard Xbox controller with a dongle that adapts it to USB.

I actually ended up manually uninstalling the driver that came on disc form. I downloaded a newer game and it works for some reason.
I havent tried it on the 2 i mentioned earlier but it will be nice if they are also compatable
