Hello,
I'm currently trying to wire up an ethernet cable from the router downstairs to a bedroom upstairs. I've got the cable going through a wall and the floor of the house and into the room. I'm trying to connect it to the RJ45 Data Outlet using T568B. However, I think because I am using a flat cable, the internal wires are a lot smaller than that of a circular ethernet cable. So when I push the right cable into the slot the metal in the data outlet doesn't cut the cable which means it's not making a connection.
Anyone know any techniques to make it so there is a connection. I thought of cutting the layer off from the inside cables using a knife, but I thought if they touch then it might make interferance?

I can send pictures and links as necessary
