Wiring home ethernet - with category 7 -_-

Hey!

So some family friends have asked me to finish off their new build with home Ethernet, problem is they've got category 7 installed everywhere as this was the 'highest number on amazon' -_-

I'm just an amateur myself and have never experiences this accordingly dead standard. They don't want a patch panel between the wires and the port switch, and want me to use a 6 port wall plate.

Question is, can category 7 be terminated in normal cat 6 etc keystones without too much hassle.

And (again amateur) any advice on the best ways to terminate cat 7 will be very very very appreciated.

The Category 7 cable standard has been ratified in 2002 to allow 10 Gigabit Ethernet over 100 m of copper cabling. The cable contains four twisted copper wire pairs, just like the earlier standards. Category 7 cable can be terminated either with 8P8C compatible GG45 electrical connectors which incorporate the 8P8C standard or with TERA connectors. When combined with GG-45 or TERA connectors, Category 7 cable is rated for transmission frequencies of up to 600 MHz.

Well you need a lot of patience to lay down cat 7 all around I ordered mine by mistake (mine or shop I have no idea) but I tried to use cat 7. Bending that on corners was, lets call it full body workout. I've used cat 6 keystones without a problem. it's a 1 more step if you use cat 7 cable with cat 6 keystones and you don't have full shielding.

btw. gains around small house over cat 6 is less than you think, unless you use 10kW stuff around house.

As it's all installed etc changing cable is a no go. But it's possible to use cat 6 keystones at least! Helpful video thank you

I'm not going to lie, this is confusing me XD - all a little above my head. Like the other poster / the video, is it okay to use a pretty standard keystone? I'm trying to google all these standards and I'm frying my head haha

I deliberately ordered cat 7 when I wired up my house; it was not a job I wanted to do twice, so I saw cat7 as future proofing for at least another decade or two to come; by which time, based on my state of health, I will be dead anyway..

When you wired up what parts did you use to terminate ? like other answers did you just use normal cat 6 keystones?

Cat6, they are easy to change when the time comes to replace the switches with 10GBE ones (too expensive for now).

Yeah, my health sucks; chronically ill for 18 years, only they kept turning me away for the first 8 1/2, saying there was nothing wrong with me. Since then I have developed another TWO chronic conditions, although luckily one is in remission.
