I am looking to wire my home for ethernet. My home is pretty old and 3 stories tall so I think that DIYing is not the best option. Should I hire an electrician or try to do it my self. If I do hire an electrician how should I go a about finding one and what else do I need to do? Help, I have a pretty thorough knowledge of networking, ethernet standards, tech, and what not, however I am pretty lost right now.

Thanks!

Go to Yelp.com and find telecomm wiring in your area. They should be able to come in and give you a free estimate. What they need from you is, Where is the junction, where are the terminations, CAT5e/6/6a? Do you want wiring only or with finishing? Wiring only means they run the wires and leave the cables hanging out, and you terminate them on plates and make it nice and patch the walls. Of course this way they don't give you guarantee but is cheaper. They may not want to do wiring only. Up to your budget and your comfort level to do the finishing.
