Witcher 3 at 55 FPS then suddenly FPS drops down to 30

Hello guys,
I was wondering if anyone has this same issue over at my end:
My specs pretty much meet all the requirements needed to run many games at Ultra and run at mid 50-60s FPS;

I7 4770k @3.9 Ghz
GTX 980 strix
Asus gene 6 Motherboard
8GB RAM 2100 mhz

When playing any game, like anything, for example Witcher 3, I tend to hover on about the highest potential FPS I can get at around 55 fps.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, the game lowers its FPS to around 33 FPS. I don't know what's causing it.

I heard about the Intel speedstep technology junk and disabled it, I even un-parked my cores as well as did everything on the Nvida control panel on many Games to utilize the maximum performance.

Unfortunately at any part of any game where the FPS is in the highest, something goes wrong within the software realm (I think) that causes the FPS to drop to mid 30's in the middle of the gaming session, even in areas where GPU power is less demanding. I.E 80 FPS normally on that particular area.

Can anyone tell my exhausted brain what the hell is going on?

Nope, 60- 67 Degrees. Definitely not throttling via temps.

Edit: It's weird, even after exiting the game and restarting it, the game remains on the low FPS, until I restart my computer.

Edit: No response? Wow..... Not like when it used to be..... Back in the 8800 GTX days, I'd get a roster of responses and one or two people would have solved the damn thing.

Slow day?

The fact the slow FPS remains even after restarting the app rules out things like running out of RAM. CPU temps are a bit warm, but shouldn't be causing throttling, though I note, temps can cool off fast, so make sure you are logging while in game to make sure you aren't getting too much warmer then that.

Ive got the same problem with witcher 2. I was playing on ultra quality with no problems. Then suddenly after a cutscene after the fight with letho the game just fucked up. My fps was down at 20-30. I didnt change my graphic settings or anything. The fps is that bad everywhere i go in the game and i cant find any solutions to this shit. And no, uber sampling is not on and it never has been. It's like the game decided not to work properly just like that. So i feel you, fps problem is the most annoying shit when it comes to RPG games (games in general really)

Have You ever fixed this issue? I am în the same situații and have tried all posibile tweaks and settings fiind on the internet. The only 2 fixed that worked for about 5 minutes were reinstaling the game or deleting the user files but the problem comes Back quick. The strange things I noticed using afterburner to monitor everything is that gpu usage is enourmous at 3.7gb and memory at about 6gb constant.

This is quite an old thread, you should start a new one, but for starters, unless you're playing @4k, using 3.7GB of VRam lot for the witcher 3.

I will when I get home to the pc, thanks.
