Does anyone know where I can get an up to date WL-500g camera support
list? Failing that, can anyone recommend a cheap camera that will work?
I've got a Logitech QuickCam Express, doesn't seem to work.

For info like this, there are several places to look:

Download page:
http://www.asus.it/support/download/download.aspx
http://www.asus.it/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=WL-500G

FAQ page:
http://www.asus.it/support/faq/faq.aspx (click all three buttons)

Product page:
http://usa.asus.com/products/communication/wireless/wl-500g/overview.htm
http://usa.asus.com/products/communication/wireless/plug-webcam.htm

"Warning: Now ASUS WL-500b only support for SAA8115HL, SAA811HL,
OV511 OV511+ CCD chipset. Please ask vendor before purchase the
webcam."

It is hard to say, whether enough interface standards are in
place, to make a gimmick like this work with any camera.
While the USB emumeration process would probably be able to
identify that it is some kind of camera, the operating controls
are bound to be proprietary.
