Hello,

I've got a Asus rampage IV and i want to WoL it. If i turn it off and i send a request after 5-10 min it got accepted and he will boot, but when i try to send a request after a hour or so it just doesnt seem to reach it. Does someone has a idea?

ISP: Telenet (yes telenet new modem/router all in one)
Forwarded port: 1111 (as port9 cant be used with telenet modem)
windows vista ultimate 64bit
wol enabled in windows
Bios settings:
- fastboot: disabled (this can interfere if its enabled, i've read)
- Wake on PCIE still On
- another setting something of requests from lan: enabled

Hope this is enough info.

Solution
You should even be able to do it over a dumb switch, no router involved...

Just to make certain, you're not trying to wake on WLAN?

Doing 192.168.0.226 shouldn't work from the mobile network, even before the router forgets.

First, make sure that you've got the latest firmware installed.

Second, make sure that the network stack is enabled in the UEFI settings. You can enable Fastboot if you'd like, it shouldn't interfere.

every bios/hardware has the latest updates
gonne check that network stack
the Fastboot is a known problem with this type of mobo (Asus community told me to leave it disabled)

I cant do it from outside or inside the network after a while, Contacted the ISP (modem belongs to them) with the problem

the original bios didnt work either, it seems like the WOL package gets killed before it reaches the nic, ive tested it now also with a hp elitebook 2570 and this one is having the same problem.

this is what i tryied
-wol from internal network: 192.160.0.226:1111
-wol from internal network: 95.23.XXX.XX:1111
-wol from mobile network: 192.160.0.226:1111
-wol from mobile network: 95.23.XXX.XX:1111

Everything works till the router forgets the mac adres of the nic

I know but when you are desperate you try all even if you know it will fail.

Got the answer in the meanwhile. I will try to translate from dutch to english the answer from my ISP

We are aware of that problem whoever we cannot allow normal customers to send this kind of data through the modem/router. We blocked all ports from 1-1023 and several others for your own protection. Also we clear the arp table after 5 min's for protection also. Our Modem/router will also kill all commands that are not adressed to a device that is listed in the arp table. The only solution that we can offer is a business pack (43 euro) that will provide you a expert Helpdesk, fixed ip, and you can request to adjust more settings on the modem/router.

So with other words leave the pc on and you have access or pay.

So there will be no solution for this.....

Well thats the problem, our ISP has a all in one device, modem/router. And if you place your own router they lower your speed with 70-90%. Last time i had 77Kb/s, what reminded me at the old classic telephone lines. Think everyone reminds that beeping sound, i could almost hear it again ^^. They do that so THEY can decide what to block, to see whats connected, etc. The only they we can adjust are ports 1034-65XXX. and 1DMZ (whats not working like it should)
