Hello all,

I'm trying to use WOL for a work computer running Windows 7 HE. I've enabled the WOL settings for the network adapter, enabled the WOL settings in the BIOS, disabled "deep sleep" mode in the BIOS, etc. However, when I wake the computer from the shut down state (using WOL Magic Packet Sender), it wakes and then freezes at the BIOS screen and does not boot.

If I then restart the computer manually, it still will not boot. I have to enter the Setup page in the BIOS in order to get it to boot properly, and then normal shut down/startup functions properly.

I've exhausted all of my knowledge looking for an answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi again
I`ll gonna turn off the Ethernet Boot From Bios - DISABLE it ....
It looks like magic packets are delivered and the PC is trying to boot from Lan
Then you can try to WOL from the LAN of the Router and later from Extranet - if this is the goal you seek !

Bios ver. you can see from Information tab in the BIOS
and the last available on the web site of the Manifacturer.

Hi
Can you please share some specs of you WOL PC ?

offtopic:
when i`m too lasy to get up and press my PC power on button i grab my Droid Smartphone and i start this app :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.increase.wakeonlan&hl=bg
Works like an charm :)

Ok on the subject :
- did you choose where to boot - some mobos have extra WOL settings define "to boot from - HDD , Network .... etc
- also if you have any BIOS upgrade install it
- is there any Active Devices b/w you WOL trasmitter and reciever ... some router , etc ... ?

Hello, thanks for your reply. The computer which I am trying to wake is a Gateway #DX4860 with Intel i5-2320. The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

- There is no specific place in the BIOS to choose boot method during WOL. I have chosen EFI and the Hard Disk as the first and second boot options under normal operation.

On occasion, during boot it does bring up an Ethernet boot dialog, which I have entered into. I believe the boot settings there are the same as my normal operation settings.

- I am not sure whether or not there is a BIOS upgrade, how do I check this?

- Also, the computer is connected to a wireless router via Cat 5 cable. I have bound the IP address to the MAC address so that the WOL sender is always being delivered to the correct IP address.

I love the app! However, it has not worked during testing.

UPDATE- Just by chance, I unplugged my external hard drive. Now, WOL is working fine. Going to examine my boot procedures to figure out why this is a problem.

Coz it goes at the first place :)

You did not mention you have any external HDD :)

But great :)
Now you can try this app :)
