Wondering how to repair a cut cable in the screen hinge powering the monitor on my laptop.

Hi, this morning I woke up to finding that my laptop monitor was showing no signs of life. When I got the chance, I started opening up my laptop to find the cause and found that a cable in the hinge of the screen was cut. (probably from being caught under it) I was wondering if I could just solder or tape them together with a piece of copper wire to fix this, or if I should take some other measure.

(Note: yes, the wires look to be different colors but the black on one of the wires is just a coating which reveals the white coating underneath.)

those cables have multiple wires in them besides being multi-stranded & very small. do you have an ebay account as might be able to find a replacement on that site for your make & model of laptop as I just did that for a customer yesterday?
