Solution
your psu is a quality one and more than plenty for a system with r9 280 which is considerably faster than gtx 750ti and will be a good pair for your i5.

I would think the 280 would be fine on that PSU, although they do recommend a 750W. The 750 Ti consumes much less power, but won't deliver as much performance as the 280. I would personally go with the 280.

A tough call on this. the R9 280 is a pretty power hungry card.

Unfortunately I don't think I can recommend the 280 with your current PSU. I think you should aim for a 650w PSU minimum for the 280.

Unfortunately your current PSU isn't a "great" PSU, Corsair do have alot of hit and miss products.

*edit* reading around on forums, seems some people are saying they are getting away with powering the 280 with a 500w PSU, you might be fine.

XFX claims you need a 750 watt PSU but your 600 Watt should work ok. It has the required connectors and 48amps on the +12volt rail. If you'll be overclocking both the CPU and GPU you may want something a bit bigger.

GTX 960 is a closer competitor to the R9 280 than the GTX 750ti. The extra 1 Gb of memory on the 280 is a plus and makes it tough to recommend the 750ti.

In performance on this very day, the 280 is better price-to-performance than the 960. But the 960 consumes far less power and runs much cooler on non-reference designs. And personally I think the full support of the upcoming DX12 is a pretty big deal, which is an advantage of the 960 over the r9 200 series.

for sure thank you guys. so i will get the XFX Black Edition Double D R9-280A- .

i am just worried that my Power supply would not be good for this card. I have used this power supply for over 2 years without any problems. and i currently have a GTX 570.

i will not be overclocking the XFX Black Edition Double D R9-280A- because i know for sure that i would need more power to do so. and i do not overclock my CPU. I'm just really wondering if the power supply would be okay for it.

I think it will be fine. Worst case scenario you get a new power supply that will last you a long time. Plus new stuff is fun! Good luck.

You should use a 600W but it's not very safe to use a 450w psu but you can, but not overclocked or anything it's so they can't get sued because it randomly stops working. But stay in the safezone with 600w
