Won't Boot Past Windows Startup Screen

Hi guys, so I've been having some trouble booting up today. Things went (mostly) fine when I made attempt #1, I got to the login screen no problem, typed in my password and that was it, but it was stuck in the logging in screen for ages (about 5 minutes), so I did a hard reset because this happens every now and then and a hard reset has always fixed it.

From then on, though, when booting up in normal mode, it has not been able to get past the "Windows Startup" screen at all. I've tried the start up repair, it's found no errors, so I tried it's alternate suggestion and did a system restore, which did not work. Fortunately, I can boot safe mode and log in fine, so I may not be completely scuppered. I'm running all my anti-virus/malware stuff although these problems are often caused by other things, but just to be safe. I've also run AVG disk doctor and it hasn't found anything, but I only did the more high-level scan so I'm not sure if it is a HDD problem that it would have picked it up.

Anyway, I am not completely clueless when it comes to troubleshooting, but this problem appears to be beyond my limited knowledge so any help would be appreciated. Here is some slightly more detailed info on my system:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
System Manufacturer: MSI
System Model: MS-7756
BIOS: BIOS Date: 10/10/12 14:32:16 Ver: 04.06.05
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.2GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM

Thanks very much,

I'm trying that now but I'm getting an error that says "failed to load detection driver". I'm trying to install this driver btw, with an AMD Radeon 7700HD card.

For what it's worth, I'm not sure that is the issue, because yesterday I managed to get it past the windows logo screen by running the full disk doctor scan I mentioned in the OP, but that is obviously not ideal because it takes several hours to run.
