[SOLVED] Won't Boot Until I Open The DVD (Blue Ray) Drive

When I start my computer, the Asus logo comes on, but it will not go past that point until I open the DVD drive. Then it proceeds to boot from the hard drive as it should.

During this pre-boot phase, the DVD drive cycles over and over, the green light blinking on and off.

I have been rebuilding this computer, using a pre-owned Asus MB and some of the parts from the previous computer, including the DVD drive. The old system was also an Asus MB, also built by me a few years ago.

Make sure the first boot device in the BIOS is the OS hard drive and not the DVD drive.

I appreciate the advice, but much has transpired, and this question is no longer exactly applicable. I still have an issue, but it has morphed so much I feel I should start a new thread, after I collect some more data.

Just in case you're still monitoring this thread - - - and just in case you're not aware of this - - - different motherboard requires a full Windows reinstall even if motherboard is from same manufacturer as previous one.
