Won't boot

Hello,
I have a problem with my notebook computer. First when I booted it up it ran a ckdisk. After it was done it shut down and when I rebooted it it comes up with Windows error recovery that says windows failed to start and it might be due to a software or hardware change and it recommends Launch Startup repair but it won't go to the startup repair. When the countdown goes to zero seconds it just starts the coundown again. I can't get it to boot from a disk. I'm not sure if it is set to boot from a disk and if it isn't I don't know how to set it so it will. I am able to go to bios, I just don't know how to set it

When you are in the bios click the tabs on the top until you see one that says Boot Order. From there use the arrow keys to change it to boot from cd first. Save changes and exit . You will now be able to boot from your CD. Before you start doing any repairs, try to boot into safe mode first and then do a system restore,and if you have not done so already back up all you stuff first.
