Wont detect blank dvds

Hello,
my xp home suddenly stopped detecting blank dvds it will read any media that's been written to, dvd(pressed/burned)audio;data, just no blank dvds, so no burning of course
i've tried uninstalling/reinstalling software and hardware devices to no avail, any ideas?

Are you using a different brand of DVD?

Did you buy a format of DVD's your drive cannot read? Or, it is possible you simply got a bad batch of DVD's. I have had that happen.
