Hey,

I've been playing AOK and conq since there release and
actually just bought a new copy because I lost my old
ones and wanted to play badly ;D. I have encoutnered a
strange problem on my (brand) new dell 8600 lap top. (Xp
home edition, a wireless network, ICF and firewall
disabled)

I installed the game, and patch... played or a day, the
next day (didn't turn off the comp, just lad screen
saver) it freezes in the "setting up multiplayer screen"
I restartede adn what not, and in the end I reinstalled,
played 3 games and the problem happened again, I can't
play again wihtout reinstalling everything. I'm using
cable with a wireless router but I don't hink that's the
problem (I can use other things like irc and such when
its not working) it just constantly freezes at the
setting up multi screen. I have no adware or spyware to
speak of (spybot check just to be sure) and I can connect
with other (everquest, irc, itunes). I searched the faq
and online. nothing in faqs about this though I found
someone ith the same problem but no help there.

Can anyone out there help? TY 😀

Hi Bodegos,

The first thing I would do to troubleshoot the problem would
be to remove the router and connect directly to the internet.

If you're unable to reproduce the problem, then you'll have
narrowed down the cause considerably. 🙂

hey,

I solved my problem, I was the only user on my computer
but IE didn't register me as the admin. MS explorer did
so i was able to disable the icf, but IE would re-
enable.

To fix launch in safemode, log in as the admin account
and recreate your account ;D
