I have an external sata drive. I don't use it and want to remove it. When I unplug it, my PC won't start. This drove me crazy trying to figure out why I couldn't boot when I moved my computer and didn't connect it. Once the connection wasn't secure and again, I went nuts trying to figure out why WINDOWS 10 wouldn't boot.

I would like this drive to be removed. Does anyone know how I can do it. I'm afraid to do anything that would make my computer not boot permanently. Any help would be appreciated.

The only things I can think of is either Windows 10 is installed on that drive or that drive is designated as the first boot device. Try this, boot your computer up and go into the BIOS (this button is usually DEL, F2, etc., it will tell you). Once in there, check the boot options and see what is listed as first. Going by IT standard, your HDD should be first, then CD-ROM and then whatever else you'd like.

Check that out and let us know!
