Word 2003 files have strange icons when in Windows 7 with Office 2007

Hello,
There are strange icons when I am in Windows 7 with Office 2007. I first noticed this when I needed to do a project. Because of the lack of new software, I had to save the file in the doc file format. Then, when I tried to open it to edit it, I noticed that the file icon was not right. It was the blank file icon with the Word 2007 icon on it. Then, I noticed that the rtf files have the correct file icon for doc files. The files can still open, but the wrong icon drives me nuts!! Please help.

Have you tried to just do a system restore to see if the icon will roll back to the icon that you're used to?

I don't think system restore will work because I've had this problem ever since I installed Microsoft Word.
