This is a message that appears when I click on a recovered word doc that I want to open. Not sure what it is telling me to do?
Have you moved this .asd (a word automatic backup file) from one machine to another ?This is a message that appears when I click on a recovered word doc that I want to open. Not sure what it is telling me to do?

which part you don't understand?
I did upgrade my PC. Not sure if that counts. And yes, with a fresh windows install.Have you moved this .asd (a word automatic backup file) from one machine to another ?
I have no idea if this will work -- https://smallbusiness.chron.com/open-autosaved-asd-files-47094.htmlI did upgrade my PC. Not sure if that counts. And yes, with a fresh windows install.

Basically, before I wiped the drive, I saved a folder to an external hard drive with these word docs, and then i transferred them again to the new build, so i guess it makes sense that it cannot find them anywhere.Well if you did a fresh Windows setup all the files on that old setup would be gone and have to be restored from backups. Need a bit more details about the situation here. How exactly did you do the Windows setup, did you wipe all the partitions off the disk, just did a random setup clicking next to the prompts? How was the disk setup before with your files, backups, etc...? No way to really know how to get the file back without knowing where it may be.
cannot find them anywhere.
moved, i think. And I will ask about that "transfer": Did you use Move or Copy?
