After getting an XP system, I find a few files won't behave.

One Word file, even if I turn off Check Spelling, at the bottom of the page,
as soon as I change anything on the page, it re-sets to check spelling, and
all the errors are underlined.

All other Word files are ok.

I've tried copying, opening a new file, then pasting. But as soon as I
change something, it re-sets the page. If I click 'Hide Spelling Errors',
again it re-sets the page as soon as I type.

Any ideas on this?

Many thanks

My next test would be to save it as a .txt file (hucking out all
formatting). Kill Word, fire up Word, load in the .txt file and see if the
spelling hoo hah is still there. If not, save it as a .doc, reload, and see
if it happens again.

This would be to see if it was endemic to being a .doc file, or to a
particular script that may have been loaded as part of your .doc, and also
just rank curiosity as to what else the thing might try to do.

Just worked it out... was going to save as .doc and noticed the file had,
for some strange reason, become a Rich Text file. Whatever that is.

Now its back to a Word file, it seems to be working fine.

Thanks
