Hey guys, I am quite new to the pc scene and i want to make the transition right. I need this pc for my engineering softwares such as AutoCAD,Solidworks and MATLAB but i would also like to play games such as Forza Horizon 3 and Arma 3 on them at preferably ultra settings. I came up with this build on pc specialist and would like you to comment on it or fix it. Or possibly give me a better buck for performance build

Increase your GPU. Engineering software (Especially rendering or simulation) is very demanding and there's nothing more frustrating than waiting for the system to catch up.

While you don't need an OpenGL HW solution (FirePro or Quadro), always cautiously go overkill on a GPU if using it for gaming and CAD. A 1070 would be ideal, I think. I can run small assemblies with my 970 (under 500 parts) but I don't render or simulate on it.

Also ditch the PSU. Go with a tier 1 or 2 unit listed here: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html I'm a Seasonic guy myself.

Good luck and if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I've been in the field for over 15 years, many as a SW admin. I'll try to help as I can.

What is the total budget including Monitor and other stuff??

If you plan on buying them afterwards then it is fine but if you plan on getting them now then it will be better if you give us your total budget. Because if we have your total budget then we can plan and provide better performing build accordingly.

Try to provide the limit your budget can go to get best results out of it.

Spend bit extra to get solid build.

If you ask why provide GTX1080 and 1080p combo. It is simple it will last lot longer than GTX1070 1080p. You will be able to play games at high+ settings for very long time.

Rest is good.

Wow the parts are amazing for the price! But i dont know if I would be able to build the pc myself thats why I was looking to get it from a company that does that for me. Is it difficult or manageable??

It is very easy. I will be happy to help you through. It will be fun and you will be getting great build out of it.

There is a method that one should follow if you follow it perfectly(which is easy) there is no way you can screw any thing.

As being this your first build I will provide better CPU cooler which is easy to mount but is bit costly(with that you will not be facing any problem at all).

I will also Youtube links for complete PC builds.

So I would recommend going for this instead of pre-built ones. The pre-built PCs are costly and come with lower quality components which is not good.

Go for this CPU cooler it is easy to mount and only costs £20 extra.

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D9L 46.4 CFM CPU Cooler (£48.97 @ Scan.co.uk)

Here is the link to the video

The only thing that he did bit differently is to apply thermal paste before placing backplate and side brackets don't do that. First mount the back plate and then place the side brackets. Then just before you place the cooler apply the thermal paste.

And when tightening the screws to the cooler don't tighten one side completely and then go for second side if you do that then the thermal paste will get spread unevenly. So tighten the screw on one side just a bit and then screw the other side equally. Do that repeatedly to complete the process.
