Here's my system, it will be used for heavy 3d animation and design.

CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2690 Sandy Bridge-EP 2.9GHz-2050
2nd CPU: Intel Xeon E5-2690 Sandy Bridge-EP 2.9GHz-2050
Mobo: EVGA Classified SR-2-560
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws Z Series 64GB-600
Hdd: Western Digital RE WD4000FYYZ 4TB 7200 RPM-480
2nd hdd: Western Digital RE WD4000FYYZ 4TB 7200 RPM-480
Ssd: OCZ Vertex 4 512 gb-630
Gpu: AMD 100 - 505632 FirePro W9000 6GB 384-bit crossfire-6800

For that much? Get a Quadro 6000. Also make sure you get your hard drives in raid. Don't know much about workstation builds, but I do know a bit. And you can't put that much memory on that mobo. Double check everything to make sure it's compatible.

Wait - a Quaddro 6000?? Why not get the new K5000? It's Keppler based, handles multiple monitors with relative ease, and uses less power than the 6000 does. RAID leaves a lot more room for failure than a traditional HD setup does.

^With you on the Keppler based chip, but only RAID 0 does that. For a workstation, you go big with RAID 5 or 1-0

Your right, a K5000 is probably better then a Quadro 6000. Also for the builder, I recommend not getting a ocz ssd. Samsung or crucial for an ssd.

I have a Vertex 4 and it's fine. No problems whatsoever. I wouldn't get anything else though.
