And yes, GTX 770 / 680 (Which is obsolete at the moment to be honest since 770 is faster and cheaper), both are desktop video cards and are specifically designed for gaming.

For rendering, programming, CAD, and similar stuff you need something made exclusively for that purpose and this is where 'Workstation Graphics Cards' kick in. AMD FirePro V5900 is a very good workstation video card and would outperform any gaming / desktop video card in your purpose.

You have to remember this when building a computer for work you are responsible for it. If something goes wrong with it how much down time are you allowed to have before you can get it back up and running. If its anything like my company they want it fixed that day. With dell prosupport they have to be there in 4 hours to fix it. Your best solution is buying a new part and having it overnighted.

Yes building it yourself is cheaper but can your company afford or would like to have a cad guy down for a day or 2 not being able to work on his computer? Mine sure as hell doesn't.


Its also easy to call up dell and tell them what you are running and they will build a computer around it. I got on dells webpage for India and they have a very close computer to what I posted for 80,000Rs. Call them up get a rep, quotes are free and you don't have to buy it if you don't want it.

haha....ok sis, thanx for the effort taken....appreciate it...

the problem being My solution is geared towards only Autodesk Inventor and Autocad, for both of which the GTX 680 outperforms most of the workstation graphic cards. Also, as the computer is required for a 9-5 situation (no overnight runs and the inventor is in between work majorly autocad), workstation graphic cards will be bit overkill. Hence thought of GTX680/770
As I understand Autodesk rendering is much similar to video games as compared to other solid modelling softwares.
Also suggest whether a ssd 128 gb kind is possible? I heard it speeds up loading time a lot
or else high speed 10000 rpm hard disk, as for rendering etc more then space I need speed of loading.

bro, actually we are fed up with workstations, I personally operate a 12000$ HP workstation and the downtime I see is enormous. We have got dell, hp, toshiba....workstations of all make in all ranges. Finally, we have found that a good built local assembly performs much better then the workstations in regular usage. Also the local assembler provides single to two days turnaround in all problems not even matched by HP or Dell at my place.
We now want to minimise workstations as long as it is not required for overnight works like heavy computations etc. For 9-5 jobs custom builds are better suited.

The strange thing is that there is no mention of GTX 770 which is essentially an overclocked GTX 680 with nothing changed except clock speed.

If a certain GPU is getting you the best results then its a wise choice to go for it. In the same way Bitcoin Mining benefits from HD 5870 the most.

Everything else is pretty good, just the GPU needs to be replaced.
