Anyone out there know if workstation cards such as Quadro FX cards can play games well or is it made to run workstation graphics? I am contemplating getting the Dell M60 notebook because I want a gaming laptop and it seems like an answer, but it is the NVIDIA® Quadro FX Go700. Will this work, anyone know??? Please help... The Go700 is based on the FX5600 and fully support DirectX 9.0, so it´s one of the best and fastest GPUs in the laptop marked. If you want to play games on your laptop this card will suit you fine!!!

The NVIDIA Quadro FX Go700 provides full 128-bit floating-point precision pipeline, 12-bit subpixel precision, hardware accelerated antialiased points & lines, Hardware OpenGL overlay planes, hardware accelerated two-sided lighting, hardware accelerated clipping planes, 3rd generation occlusion culling, 16 textures per pixel, OpenGL quad-buffered stereo (3-pin sync connector), AGP 8x with Fast Writes and sideband addressing as well as other features, such as 16x antialising and so on.

If you want to play games on your laptop, I can also recommend <A HREF="http://www.gamersdepot.com/hardware/notebooks/voodoo/m460/001.htm" target="_new"> this</A> one. I don´t know about the price though...

AS much as I like Voodoo, hey they are built righ here in town 2 blocks from my office (I can see them from my window right now); The <A HREF="http://www.alienware.com/" target="_new">ALIENWARE</A> laptops are by far the best IMO. The ability to swap out both the CPU and graphics card to add better ones, is GREAT. With the Alienware you can get the NV FXGO or the ATI mobility R9600, and then change them as need be.

They profiled them on TSS on TechTV last night (<A HREF="http://www.alienware.com/sub_pages/tech_tv.aspx" target="_new">See promotion</A>) and gave it a good review. The Voodo was also well received. Thy showed the process of changing GFX cards and i loked easy. They said it takes about 5 mins. Whihc seemed about right.

Anywhoo, that's my 2 frames worth.

Agreed, the Area-51m kicks serious @ss!

But the new Area-51m is not available yet and I have no clue on the what the price will be.

You can always wait around for better and faster technology.

Actually Tthere is a PRICE list on the back of this month MAXIMUM PC, I'd quote the prices (there were 3 categories) but it's back at home right now, however they should have the prices on that link I supplied in a few days. I know they are supposed to be availible at the beginning of AUG. (like in 1-2 weeks). It's not THAT far off for such a GREAT platform IMO.
