Workstation GPUs vs Regular GPUs?

Does anyone know what the difference is between workstation GPUs and "regular" GPUs are and how workstation GPUs perform in games?

Workstation GPUs ar exactly the same GPUs as their gaming counterparts; they just have specialized drivers for 3d applications.

Usually these drivers make gaming a tad slower, but not much.
