World of Warcraft Soft Freezing

I have been experiencing soft freezing of the game since roughly the beginning of August. Sometimes the game will just stutter for a brief second and then carry on and other times it will lock up for about 5-10 seconds and then carry on where it left off. I do not experience any DC's during these lock ups. It has happened in combat as well as just running around in Dalaran. During this time my FPS will stay high and latency will not change.

I have run memory tests and disc checks, they both come up without any issues. I have performed full UI resets and uninstalled Twitch client a few times and it has not fixed the problem. Windows is running in selective startup mode with only my audio drivers, AVG, and intel USB monitors allowed to start.

I have WoW and windows on a SSD. I will post my DXDiag below. There are also no errors in the WoW folder. Please note that my graphic drivers have been rolled back to an older version due to the issues with Radeon 17.7.2 and 17.8.1 drivers.

Hey!
When WoW is freezing, can you alt-tab and do other stuff?
I had a similar problem and it was a corrupted texture file so I just redownloaded the game and it was fine.
One other possible issue is incompatible/bugged addons that produce too many errors and the game freezes so you can try disabling them to check if the problem persists... if it's not easily reproducable it might be tricky to find which one but there are also addons that check for errors, heh!

Hey, thanks for the replies guys.

I haven't tried to alt-tab when it happens because it usually only lasts a less than a second, then longest 'freeze' was probably only 3 seconds long; but I didn't think to attempt alt-tabbing. I will have to remember to try that if it happens again. I could also just run HWmonitor and see what my peak CPU usages is I suppose. I also shut the BNet launcher off when WoW is on and generally only have about 50 processes going when gaming, most of which are windows processes.

I am uninstalled WoW this morning and have set it up to download/install while I am at work today, I will also install an error checking add-on. Though I have minimal add-ons as it is.

Your alt tabbing solution did not work.


1. Check for any malware:

If there is, remove it instantly.

2. Download Geforce and download drivers from there. You may have installed a wrong driver:

3. One reason why your performance maybe low is because of your parked cores. Simply, a parked core basically means it's disabled and you do not want that. Here is how to identify if your cores are parked/disabled:

Open up windows task manager > Click on the 'performance tab' at the top > at the bottom click on 'open resource monitor' > click on the 'CPU' tab at the top > On the right you will see graphs. Make sure at the top of each graph where it says at "CPU 0", CPU 1 etc.. and make sure it does NOT say "CPU 0 - Parked".

If any of the cores state they are parked or greyed out, do this:
Go to control panel > click on 'hardware and sound' > then 'power options' > then select 'high performance'.
If you can't find it then click on the 'hide additional plans' tab and it should be there.

4. Make sure you're Monitor is plugged into your GPU and not motherboard, you don't want to be running on integrated graphics!

5. Uninstall your driver using DDU:

How to use it: hit clean and restart and ensure you download the correct driver after!

6. Download Speccy and see if your all your parts are there and are functional, also check the temperature.

7. Take out the RAM and play games with each individual one. If the performance is better then you know the RAM taken out is faulty

Update - I also found out that the xbox one app does destroy performance on windows 10.
Try this:

"1.Open Powershell in admin
2. type/copy this "Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.XboxApp | Remove-AppxPackage"
3. Restart and see if it still appear "

how can be the ram affecting it! and how can the gpu be too!
HE CLEARLY SAID it was freezing for a second ofcourse its cpu suttering!

Dont show your opinon on my solution due to your ignorance.

You do not know its the CPU, incorrectly installed RAM and GPU can also be a problem.

No need to resort to name calling!

I will not be installing anything GeForce related on this computer seeing as I am running an AMD Radeon card....

I have run malwarebytes and found 0 issues.

I am not having a performance issue, the game runs at a constant 110+ FPS on ultra settings. I just get a random freeze every once in a while. I also do not have any parked cores and all 4 boost up to the spec'd 4200MHz when playing the game. I used DDU to roll back my Radeon drivers to the previous stable version already. I am hardly even using 30% of my installed ram when playing WoW, so I doubt its my ram filling up.

I have the same issue but it's not always a freeze, i tried turning on the sound and sometimes the music stutters but the game does not freeze and other times it freezes at the same time the music stutter. Last month le wild blue screen of death appeared and it was some problem with the HDAudBus driver or something, also this problem occurs only when WoW is on fullscreen. I don't know if this info is of any help to you.

I've been having the same freezing issue, but it coincided for me with getting a new GPU, namely Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II OC. The gpu has been sent to the shop, but returned with the same issue. While the gpu was sent to the shop, I used my old gpu, with no freezes for 3 weeks.

Pretty inconvenient during mythic raids and m+.
