Hi guys. I am having a bit of drama with my new set up....
I was running an i7-2600k OC to 4.6ghz on a Asrock Extreme4 - the cooloer was an Antec Kuhler 1220. I then purchased a Raijintek Triton as I thought it looked better but found very few reviews.
My idle temps on the Antec were around 26-27 celcius and 55-57 max under load ( pretty good).
When I fitted the Triton it was 3 times bigger than the Antec so thought it would be around the same...but I was wrong. The idle temps were around 37-40 celcius and maxed out at 80!!
So I reseated and applied new MX-4, same drama high idle and max. So I returned the Trition as I thought it maybe faulty and put the Antec back on and what do you know....same high idle and max temps.
So for some stupid reason I saw a video on youtube about de-lidding to get better temps etc so I did....and CRACK!! my i7-2600k was soldered on!! hahaha. So end of that....
I now have a i7-3770k.... I fitted the Antec with MX-4 - rice grain size and high idle and max temps once again, so I reseated and new MX-4 spread method this time - exactly the same.
So I have bought myself a Corsair H110, fitted with their stock paste and still getting the same idle around 31-41 HWMonitor keeps jumping around,
Real temp read the same and BIOS reads 37-ish when booted.
Max temp is reading 85 now on 3dMark so I'm a bit stuck, is my MOBO throwing out dodgy readings or am I doing something wrong???
Oh and now my Antec is cooling my GTX970 via Kraken and idle's at 24 celcius and maxes out at 45 degree's when really maxed out (so i guess its not broken)
Any advice on what it could be??
My case is a NZXT H440 with 3x SP120 high performance on front,
1x SP140 HP on rear & 2x 140mm fans on top which came with H110 all fans are at 100% - but pretty quiet. Room temp is around 20 celcius (UK temps) and case sits on a chair off the ground next to my desk as I thought it would help air flow.
Thanks 🙂
