Worth a look!

Check out this site for a cooler.

And this site for a review

Now I don't know much about this heatsink so I'm wondering if anyone has any info on it. Any info on the drive enclosure, case fans and the 300W PSU would also be welcome.

I plan to run:

Abit BX133
PIII 1GHz
Radeon 64Mb DDR
512Mb PC-133 (2 x 256)
2 x Quantum AS 20/30 (not sure which yet) RAID 0

Decent cooling and noise reduction for low amounts of cash seems a great idea, but knowledgable about cooling I ain't!

I notice in the review DIMM slot 1 is blocked by this cooler which worries me, so advice on this is also appreciated.

Cheers!

On the spec it looks okay,

however from the article I'd check the clearance for the memory slots on your board. The test board had slot 1 unusable because of the hs clip.

I'd also try to get a performance review of them too. Their Athlon product cannot keep the chips under 50 degrees. They state that it will run 50-65 degrees (which is within the 90 degree athlon limit).

From their (company marketing) perspective they are setting an acceptable cpu temp much higher than mine - I would not like to see any cpu much above 50 degrees and certainly not 65 degrees.

It may be worth finding out what the temp it will get the cooler 1Ghz PIII to...

Overall though it seems to be virtually silent, which it worth trading off a few degrees for as long as your system stays stable. It is quite cheap too, why not take a leap and see what it's like?

Regards,

Peter.
