Hello everyone,

Well, I was using my computer, and one of my memory sticks died. I haven't finished testing it yet, but I'm pretty sure it's dead.
My specs
i5 4440
RX 580 8gb
2x4gb ddr3
Windows 7

I only play a few games, like war thunder and ark survival evolved, ark I play rarely, Otherwise, this computer i use for schoolwork and stuff.

Do you think I should buy more ram or just hold off. Quite frankly, these prices for even ddr3 are absurd and I don't want to give the filthy ram companies any of my money unless I have to.

I took it out of an old prebuilt, so I think I'm out of luck. I was thinking perhaps ebay?

There's always a risk to mixing memory as it may not work together, ebay may work or be a waste of money.

I would further test the set you have to make sure it's the stick that's the issue and not the slot. Next I would check to see if 4gb is enough for what you do on the system and decide on that. While 4gb isn't much I'm currently gaming on 4gb (Q6600/4gb/750 ti/1440x900P) with little issues and a friend of mine is at 4gb as well (x4 965/4gb/r9 290/1080P).
